"ROADTRIP", multimedia presentation by Wayne Zebzda. ROADTRIP was exhibited at The Contemporary Museum Honolulu Biennial 2008 and has just returned from a solo show at The Maui Arts & Cultural Center (2009).
"Like Andy Warhol, Wayne Zebzda presents something familiar, transforms it through the eye of the artist, and asks us to see it differently. However, where Warhol was dour, Zebzda has a twinkle in his eye and is hell-bent on delighting the viewer." -- Paul Janes-Brown, Maui Weekly

“My art is produced from the random things in everyday life. Sometimes it’s just a phrase uttered by a stranger or a jingle from TV, or it could be a sign on the side of the road or the color of the sky. Many times a found object finds its way to my studio like a lost puppy. I usually don’t know what it’s going to become but there is an initial attraction to it so I’ll keep it around, feeding it while it feeds me in ways I’m not quite sure of. I wait for it to howl and run off on its own determined direction, leading me along on an adventure. Of course I chase it. Drawing, sculpture, video, photography, sound, humor…I’ll explore and exploit any vehicle which moves me along on these adventures. Each offers a different ride.
Accident, chance, and circumstance, can shape an object into something it was never meant to be. There is poetry in the results and I find it quite beautiful but everyone has their own viewpoint.
The ROADTRIP series is a continually evolving group of works. I am constantly adding to it, chasing it like a whole pack of wild dogs. I’m not sure where they’re leading me and they’re not slowing down, so fasten your seat belts, enjoy the ride and please, everybody, sit in your own seat”
